COVID-19 Update

Our Seven Point Plan has been developed to ensure we are doing everything we can to keep our guests and staff safe, whilst still offering a quality experience here. The plan is constantly updated subject to the lated guidelines.

Seven Point Plan:

  1. Pre-arrival
    • We politely request that if you are displaying any symptoms of COVID-19 that you call us to postpone your stay. These include: a high temperature, a new and persistent cough, or loss of taste and smell.
    • If you live in a Tier 3 (Very High) COVID alert area outside North Devon, please contact us to reschedule your stay – this is following current government guidelines, which ask those people in a Tier 3 area to avoid staying overnight in another area of the UK.
    • We will send you an email the week before your stay to provide you with all the necessary information about your stay, our latest COVID-19 management processes and information about the local area.
  2. Arrival & Check-In
    • We politely request that if you are displaying any symptoms of COVID-19, you do not enter the Guest House. These include: a high temperature, a new and persistent cough, or loss of taste and smell. Any guests or visitors displaying COVID-19 symptoms may be asked to leave the premises.
    • Hand sanitising stations will be provided at all entry and exits, customers will be required to sanitise before entering the Guest House.
    • Our check-in process has been streamlined to allow for a faster, reduced-contact experience – keys will be sanitised and left in the room door for you.
    • All surfaces, screens, door handles and equipment will be regularly cleaned and sanitised throughout the day.
    • If you have any special requirements, please let us know before you arrive so we can make the necessary preparations with everybody’s safety in mind.
    • On check-in, we will confirm the card details you wish to pay with – in order to streamline the check-out process and allow it to be contactless, we will automatically charge the card on file on the morning of departure. Your room bill will be emailed to you.
  3. Common Areas
    • We have enhanced our cleaning procedures to include thorough cleaning of shared surfaces throughout the day.
    • We have set up hand sanitising stations throughout the property for you to use and we politely ask you to use these when entering the Guest House.
    • When walking through the Guest House, we ask you to please be considerate by keeping a social distance of a minimum of 2 metres between yourself and other guests.
  4. Bedrooms & Bathrooms
    • Every guest bedroom and en-suite will be fully sanitised before each stay and then closed to ensure no contamination occurs prior to your arrival.
    • All surfaces are thoroughly wiped down and cleaned prior to your arrival.
    • Linens and towels are professionally washed on a high heat.
    • All printed material has been removed from your room to avoid cross contamination – we will send you a link to our online Guest Information ‘Folder’ via email the week before your stay.
    • Our housekeeping team will wear appropriate PPE during cleaning.
    • Daily servicing of rooms will only be available upon request. Should you require this service, rooms will need to be vacant and personal items stowed away.
  5. Food & Drink
    • Breakfast times will be agreed with you on check-in – we respectfully request that guests endeavour to adhere to times to ensure flow and guest safety at all times.
    • We have extended our dining space to ensure tables are a minimum of 1m apart.
    • Breakfast items usually on the buffet will be served on request to your table.
    • We ask that you use the same table during your stay as much as possible.
    • We ask that you please use the bathrooms in your bedrooms rather than the ones in the dining area as much as possible.
    • Hand sanitising stations will be set up at the entry and exit points and should be used every time you enter or exit the dining areas.
    • In line with the latest restrictions and our allocation to Tier 2, alcoholic drinks from the Honesty Bar cannot currently be consumed in the Guest Lounge. If you purchase any items, please enjoy these in your room. All items have been changed to individual servings. The hand sanitiser must be used before and after serving yourself from the bar.
  6. Check-Out
    • On the morning of check-out, we will charge your room and any extras to the card we have on file, and email you a copy of the bill & receipt.
    • If you have any queries on the bill, please speak to a member of staff at breakfast.
    • On vacating your room, we ask that you leave the windows open to ventilate the room before the housekeeping team enters.
    • To check out, all you need to do is leave your key in the lock on your room door (where you found it on check-in).
  7. Our People
    • Our staff are trained on how to prevent the contagion of COVID-19. This is an ongoing process as new guidance and advice is received.
    • Any staff member showing symptoms will be immediately sent home and will be required to self-isolate for 14 days before returning to work.
    • All staff are required to thoroughly wash their hands on arriving at work.
